Holy Dusters
Work Time
After the 8:00am mass each Friday
Responsibilities
- Dusting (Main Church, Daily Chapel, and Mother’s Chapel)
- Chairs
- Pews
- Railings
- Both confessionals
- Statues
- Organ, piano
Goal: Dust everything that can be reached without a ladder. Clean glass on credence table.
Washing
- Clean and refill holy water cups.
- Wash all chalices and ciborium.
- Make sure each priest’s chalice has a purificator.
- Wash the hand washing bowels and pitchers. Leave on left side of sink.
- Put three finger towels on left side of sink.
- Wash and fill wine and water cruets in fridge.
- Place four wine bottles in the fridge.
- Check if there are wine bottles under the sink. Tell maintenance person if no wine is present.
- Put clean paper towels on sink.
- Put clean towel on rack.
Linens
- Change corporal on both altars.
- Change cloth on credence table.
- Take dirty purificators and corporals from drawer and wash, iron, and return to church within three days. (Soak the liturgical purificators and corporals in water for a half hour to dissolve any remaining precious blood or consecrated host. Pour the water around plants and not into the sewer.)
Special Instructions
- If there are any broken or damaged vessels set them aside and tell the Parochial Vicar.
- If there are any corporals or purificators are poor condition then discard them. Since these linens have been used with the holy Eucharist then they should be burned or buried, not thrown in the trash.
- If there is a shortage of corporals or purificators then tell the Parochial Vicar.
